About Me
I am passionate about all aspects of human potential and how the discovery and articulation of an individual’s potential can be a significant means of empowerment.
The theme of Empowerment I believe is the common thread that links my love of coaching and my natural gravitation to the education sector. As an experienced coach, facilitator and education consultant I very much enjoy working with individuals and groups with a view to gaining clarity and maximising performance. I have a particular interest and expertise in career and transition coaching. I work with clients on a one to one basis as well as providing workshops at organisational level.
In terms of my own career, I have worked as a midwife and in various education, management and leadership roles up to Area Director level in the HSE. Other roles include Education Specialist with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) and latterly my work in coaching and education has largely been on an individual basis and as an organisational consultant. l can honestly say I have loved each role!
During the past 5 years my organisational clients have included the Health Service Executive (HSE), RCPI, Enterprise Ireland, ICGP. Examples of the programmes I have designed and delivered include Coaching Conversations for Quality Improvement; Mentor Training for Medical Consultants; Pitching for Investment for Entrepreneurs; Prepare for Success – One day workshop on CV, Job Application and Interview Preparation; Clinical Leadership Development.
An influential memory which was a driver to my current role is of being on an interview board at which one of the candidate’s was a former colleague for whom I held enormous respect and admiration. Sadly, that person didn’t ‘show up’ and at interview made no reference to the many examples I could clearly recall that would demonstrate her amazing knowledge and ability. We spoke sometime later and the realisation for each of us was that she didn’t recognise her brilliance and so could not speak about something outside of her conscious awareness. This I find frequently as a career coach. It is an honour to witness someone work through a process of challenging their limiting beliefs and fully acknowledge their ability.
My experience as an interviewer has revealed that even the most experienced people sometimes have difficulty in owning their capability and frequently an interview board does not experience nor see the interviewee at their best. My passion is to facilitate people, through a structured process to confidently be their authentic best self.
Beyond work, I love listening to music, walks in nature, travel, reading, meeting friends and family time.
